Of course, Cruise Night
is fictional, but one element is based on real events: that is, the “real” cruise nights that were held in Glendora, California from 1976-78. In fact, I have interviewed many people who attended them.
Amazingly, these were high school students who “advertised” their cruise nights. And their flyers got quite sophisticated over time.
This particular flyer's artist was possibly a high school senior in 1976, but we believe he kept drawing the cruise night flyers for another two years after he graduated. We may
never know the exact story as several attempts to find the artist have proven
unsuccessful.
This flyer may have advertised the last cruise night ever, as its date is the latest I have found. I will post the earlier flyers in the near future so you can compare the differences. 'Til then, dig that nasty Nomad!
